5 Ways to Reach Your Goals (Every Time)

Every year, people all around the world make a point of setting a New Year’s resolution, but the thing is that most of those people won’t achieve their goal. They have the best intentions, and in the moment that they set that goal for themselves they really do intend to get there. I have learnt over the years that setting a goal is only one small part to achieving what you set out to do. However, there are a few steps you can follow that will help you be more successful in fulfilling your commitments to yourself, and I’ve included five of them in this articles.

Write It Down

When you take the time to write your goals down, it gives you a focus and it makes you accountable to yourself that you have something to work towards. There are studies that show you are 42% more likely to achieve your goals just by writing them down.

Plan Your Steps

Once you have written your goal down, the next thing you want to do is work out exactly how you are going to achieve it. For example, if your aim is to win more clients, then you can plan out the steps you’re going to take to do that, such as paying for advertising or attending networking events.

Make Yourself Accountable

The reason that people fail at reaching their goals is because they don’t make themselves accountable for achieving them. You need to make sure that you are being honest with yourself and not giving yourself a way out. Find a way to reward yourself along the way to maintain your focus.

Ask for Help

A great way to make sure that you achieve the goals you set for yourself is to tell someone you trust to keep you accountable and on track. When choosing the person to help, make sure they’re someone that you respect who will drive you forward. Whoever you choose, make sure they’ll be tough on you when you need them to be and won’t let you worm your way out of your commitment.

Make Your Goal Achievable

Make sure your goal is something that you will actually be able to complete, and it isn’t outside of your skill set. You can set goals for yourself that push you to be better than you are now, but if you’re not realistic about it then you’ll probably fail to reach your target. If you plan out the steps you’ll see which ones can be achieved easily and which ones might need more time to complete.

Wanting to be a better person and improve your skills is a fantastic approach to have in life. By taking the time to plan out how you will achieve these goals and then actually doing it will increase your chances no end.
